DENTAL X-RAYS

We use the Dexis Digital X-ray system which is a powerful, high quality diagnostic tool. Using digital radiography, we can immediately translate that information into a large clear image that is projected on to a monitor that the patient and doctor can study together. Digital X-Ray technology improves and simplifies the way we care for our patient’s teeth, resulting in better dental evaluations and treatment decisions. Digital radiographs help us to help you understand the condition of your mouth, as well as our recommendations for treatment. In addition, this X-ray technique reduces the radiation required for an intra-oral image by more than 50% compared to film X-rays, thus making it safer.

DENTAL EXAMS

A comprehensive dental exam and (necessary X-rays) will be performed by your dentist at your initial visit. At regular check-up exams, your dentist or hygienist will include the following:

Examination of diagnostic x-rays (radiographs) if deemed necessary: Essential for detection of decay, tumors, cysts and bone loss. X-rays also help determine tooth and root positions.

Oral cancer screening: Check the face, neck, lips, tongue, throat, tissues and gums for any signs of oral cancer.

Gum disease evaluation: Check the gums and bone around the teeth for any signs of periodontal disease.

Examination of tooth decay: All tooth surfaces will be checked for decay with special dentist instruments.

Examination of existing restorations: Check current fillings, crowns, etc.
